My family lives in a world where the lights are bright, the sounds are loud, and the crowds can feel like standing in the middle of the Death Star at full alert. With my son on the autism spectrum and my own journey with a brain injury, “going out” has often felt more like a battle than an adventure.
That’s why KultureCity is our Force for good!
KultureCity creates sensory-inclusive spaces and sensory rooms in arenas, museums, zoos, airports, and other public venues so the nearly 1 in 4 people with sensory needs and invisible disabilities don’t have to sit out life’s big moments. Because of the amazing work and support KultureCity has done over the years, there are quiet, calming spaces and trained staff ready for families like mine so we can stay, reset, and actually enjoy the events we came for.
This year, I’ve teamed up with the KultureCity team for the premiere health and wellness events in the galaxy….the Runningman Festival, taking place in September in Rome, Georgia. I’m taking on this 3-day challenge and plan to push myself and my spirit to the limits. In order to do this, I need your help…you’re my only hope!
During this event I plan on putting my legs (and possibly my skin) on the line, depending on how much support I receive from you. It’s simple…I have 3 fundraising goals and you get to determine how far I will go.
$2,500 – Padawan Level: Hit $2,500 and I’ll run a half marathon (13.1 miles). A strong first step on the path of the Jedi.
$5,000 – Jedi Knight Level: I’ll run a full marathon (26.2 miles). This is my “This is the way” commitment to inclusion.
$10,000 – Jedi Master Level: I’ll run the full marathon AND get my first tattoo to honor this journey and KultureCity’s impact on my family. A permanent reminder that the Force of inclusion is real.
